Badminton champs move into semis

DEFENDING?champions Shari Watson and Andre Padmore were on track to retain their singles titles when the Barbados Badminton Association’s Senior Nationals 2012 entered Day 2 at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex on Tuesday.
Watson blew past Amanda Haywood 21-4, 21-10 to set up next week’s semi-final battle against Mikeila Carrington. Carrington, who has never beaten Watson, had dismissed Cherene Ward, 21-12, 21-8.
Tamisha Williams scored the first upset by taking out No.2 seed Sabrina Scott in the only three-setter so far, 14-21, 21-18, 21-14. Williams will meet Mariama Eastmond, who stopped Monyata Riviera, 21-12, 21-13.
Scott is the mixed doubles partner of Padmore, who defeated Damian Howell 21-9, 21-15 and then disposed of the unrelated Greg Padmore 21-19, 21-13. Greg Padmore had earlier outshone Jade Browne 21-13, 21-6.
