The wealth of music business talent in Barbados is leading the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) to try privatizing Cohobblopot for the third time in its near 30-year history.
And if it succeeds, other Crop Over events may also be produced by private promoters.
Chief executive officer of the NCF, Cranston Browne, told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday it was seeking to partner with private promoters in the hope of improving the annual event which is held on the night before Crop Over’s climax, Grand Kadooment.
“We have some very good promoters out there, young groups like Brewster’s Road and other entities like FAS that we would like to see being involved in Crop Over,” he said.
“Involving private promoters has been talked about for a while, and if it works this year, we may also get the private sector involved in other Crop Over events.”
