SPORTS AND EVANGELISM blended on Whitsuntide Monday at the St Leonard’s Boys’ School hard court.
It was the hosting of the Emmanuel Baptist Church Soccerama in which six teams participated and they played under the watchful eye of referees Renaldo Gilkes and Melvin Knight.
The five-a-side tournament had teams playing for ten minutes a half and allowed rolling substitutions.
It came about as part of a community outreach programme by the church to tell people about Jesus and living a Christian life.
Members of the Richmond, Alkins and President Kennedy Drive communities came out in their numbers to support the teams from the start in the morning until the finals were played at 5:45 p.m.
DJ Gerard Prescod hyped up the crowd while Dwight Auguste provided entertaining commentary.
In the end Richmond won on penalties. (AC)
