Aussies tutoring kids to succeed

AUSTRALIAN PRUDENCE SOBERS is planning to introduce a different concept in education to Barbados.

The former wife of National Hero and cricket legend Sir Garfield Sobers, and her husband, Australian psychologist Greg Nicholson, are expected back in the island later this year to formally launch Achieve Tutoring Barbados, an offshoot of the Edworks Tutoring Centres they operate in Melbourne, Australia.

The couple started Edworks in Melbourne 25 years ago and said they had seen a growing demand for the services of the supplemental educational organisation through which students were given after-school tutoring.

Sobers, who still carries the internationally recognised name of her former husband, owned and operated a health food company producing health food products for export to Japan and also became a successful author, before teaming up with her husband to start Edworks. (GC)
