Music ‘out of students’ league’

THE CHIEF JUDGE  for the Schools’ Music Festival is concerned that students are being given material which is out of their league.

Andy Williams, who is a former director of the acclaimed Royal Barbados Police Force Band, made the point this morning during a workshop for finalists from the primary schools at Prince Cave Hall, Station Hill, St Michael.

Williams said the incorrect choices were causing singers to go off-key, and that some form of accompaniment would help in some cases.

Representatives from 27 primary and secondary schools have made it through to the March 15 finals at the Gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex at 3 p.m. (YB)
