PM: Polyclinic will be done in three months

PRIME MINISTER Freundel Stuart says the controversial St John Polyclinic should be completed by June – despite Opposition misgivings.

The polyclinic was started by Stuart’s Democratic Labour Party (DLP) in 1991, but the project languished from 1994 to 2008 when the Barbados Labour Party was in power.

“I think, based on the state of completion of the polyclinic, that by the 30th of June we can get it finished,” Stuart told parliamentarians today.

However, Opposition MPs Edmund Hinkson and Kerrie Symmonds, taking part in the same debate on the national health budget in the House of Assembly, questioned whether the polyclinic would really be completed by June 30, considering Government had failed a number of completion deadlines it had announced.
