WEDNESDAY WOMAN: Her eggs in one basket

FOR THE LAST 30 years or so Jackie Ferdinand wanted to get fully into event planning. She had tried it on a few occasions but her job in commercial banking took precedence and she never realised her dream.

However, when she retired in May, it seemed the time to scratch the itch that she never could over the years.

So Jaxe, A Basket Case got off the ground.

When her daughter got married in June last year Jackie planned her wedding, but since a lot of the items she needed could not be acquired locally, Jackie sourced them overseas. After the wedding, she decided she would rent them out.

“I believed that if I could not find them there are other people out there who cannot find them too,” Jackie said.
