Barbados remains under a flood watch until noon today.

In this instance, a flood watch is issued when the conditions are favourable for flooding within the next 12 hours, but that does not mean flooding will occur.

A release from the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) says maximum rainfall accumulations of 100 to 150mm in heavy showers and periods of rain are forecast for today.

A tropical wave in conjunction with a favourable upper-level environment is producing unsettled conditions across the island and radar data overnight indicated about 4 to 6 inches of rainfall accumulation around 100 to 150km east of Barbados

This excessive amount of rainfall accumulation can present life-threatening floods, particularly during the afternoon, and residents and visitors are urged to monitor the situation closely via official updates from the BMS over the next six to 12 hours.

The bulletin will be updated at noon. (PR/SAT)
