Veteran Russell Moseley displayed tremendous grit and shrewd play to earn a come-from-behind victory in the ICBL Senior Tennis Open men’s final over Stephen Slocombe 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Wednesday night at the National Tennis Centre, Wildey.

That final was postponed from Sunday when 17-year-old Slocombe was up 6-3 and leading 2-0 in the second set in a bid to repeat as the champion while winning his fourth national crown in three weeks.

However, the unflappable Moseley returned to demonstrate that the 18-year gap was well honed experience and not a handicap.

Slocombe dismissed Moseley’s advantage in the third game to quickly lead 3-0 with the threat of rain remaining constant.  (KB)
