The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring a mid to upper level trough currently anchored across the Lesser Antilles.

A bulletin from the Met Office today, which is valid until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, said “this feature should remain nearly stationary across the area throughout the day before progressing slowly westward into the eastern Caribbean sea by tonight”.

Most of the heavy shower activity associated with the system will remain over the Windwards and southern Leewards today.

However, showers and possible isolated thunderstorms cloud develop over Barbados later today and into tonight.

The public is advised of the possibility of moderate to heavy showers developing over or close to Barbados this afternoon or tonight. Usual day-to-day activities can continue as normal throughout the day, however the public is urged to be vigilant during the next 12 to 18 hours.

“Stay alert for any further information from the BMS on this system over the next 12 to 18 hours.” (PR)
