The Electoral and Boundaries Commission (EBC) has asked all qualified people living in the St George North Constituency who are 18 years or over, and have not yet applied to be registered as electors, to immediately do so.
Additionally, all registered electors residing in that constituency who changed their addresses but have not yet notified the Electoral Department should do so now by completing the necessary Change of Residence Forms and filing them with the Electoral Department. Anyone making an application to be registered is required to produce the original and one copy of documents.
Those documents which must be presented in support of a person’s name, place of birth and date of birth include: birth certificate (for non-nationals who cannot produce a birth certificate, the passport and a copy of the page with the personal details will be accepted for new registrations only); Registrar’s Certificate (for a change of name done under the Change of Name Act); Marriage Certificate; Registered Deed Poll; Decree Absolute; Sworn Affidavit; and Adopted Persons Certificate.
Commonwealth citizens, other than citizens of Barbados, who qualify for registration are also required to bring the original and one copy of the documents, including the letter issued by the Chief Immigration Officer in support of their immigration status.
The EBC has advised that assistance in any of the above-mentioned processes may be obtained at the Revising Centre, Valley Resource Centre, Glebe, St George, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., each day, except Sunday October 11.
Assistance is also available at the Electoral Department, Warrens Towers II, Warrens, St Michael, Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., until Tuesday, October 13.
A person is qualified to be registered as an elector for a constituency if he or she is a citizen of Barbados; or a Commonwealth citizen (other than a citizen of Barbados) who has resided in Barbados for a period of at least three years immediately before the qualifying date; and is 18 years or over and has resided in that constituency for at least three months before the qualifying date of making application to be registered as an elector.
