Barbados is safe and open for business.
That is the message Minister of Tourism Senator Lisa Cummins encouraged a delegation of United Kingdom travel writers and travel agents to convey when they return home from a Barbados familiarisation trip.

Speaking at a reception in their honour Wednesday night, Cummins told the group of 14: “We want to make sure that as we work with all of you in the tour industry and in the media, that we send the message . . . Barbados is open for business and it is open for business safely. . . . We are enforcing the protocols because that helps us to keep you safe; that we are very proud that we are still that country where there is no local transmission and no community spread; and as long as we have that double testing . . . three days prior to arrival, and once you arrive, you have that quarantine, that that helps to keep you safe and helps to guarantee that you are going to enjoy your vacation here with us.”

Cummins’ message was favourably received, as owner of the UK agency Travel Counsellors Ltd, Alex Buckle, told the Weekend Nation he had “every confidence to go back to the UK and sell Barbados as a safe destination”. (GC)
