“Praise God. Thank you, Father!”

Lionel DaCosta Wilson whispered those words just after he was found not guilty on a rape charge by majority verdict yesterday.

The Barbadian, who grew up in St Vincent and the Grenadines, was accused of raping his then 73-year-old room-mate on August 13, 2016.

Wilson, now 37, who maintained his innocence throughout, said he was feeling great to be out of HMP Dodds, as it was very hard “inside”.

“Prison is no place for nobody to be. I so grateful to be out at this point of time. The next move is to try to get back my life together, get to my family and get everything sort out with my life,” he told the media on the steps of the Supreme Court Complex. (RA)
