Barven going big

The Barbados Association of Retailers, Vendors and Entrepreneurs (BARVEN) has “phenomenal” plans for the future, including a complete renovation of the market along the Mighty Grynner Highway.

Yesterday, management of the association held a media conference in the Barbados Small Business Development Centre, Fontabelle, St Michael where president Alister Alexander said the current market was only a temporary one.

“We have a vending policy which is being rolled out slowly. An aspect of that policy involves the BARVEN super outdoor market, which will replace the current temporary market along the Mighty Grynner Highway.

“Because of the (COVID-19) pandemic, we had to move out to that location quickly, so therefore everything is not where we would like it to be but we are having a great time. Even so, we expect Barbados will see something phenomenal. We are looking forward to the ‘real’ market. We have already submitted plans to Government,” he said. (CA)
