This afternoon, the Barbados Meteorological Services issued a flash flood warning for the island, which will be in effect until 6 p.m.

A flash flood warning is issued when rapid flooding due to heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than 6 hours) is occurring or is imminent in the warning area.

Low-level moisture from the equatorial regions, coupled with upper-level divergence over the island, are generating cloudy to overcast skies and moderate to heavy showers across Barbados. Rainfall accumulations of 20mm have already been recorded in some areas and a further 25mm is likely. (PR/SAT)
