The flood warning for Barbados was extended until 6 a.m. Monday.

A flood warning is issued when flooding is occurring or is imminent within the next 36 hours.

Low-level moisture from the equatorial regions, coupled with upper-level divergence over the island has been generating cloudy to overcast skies and moderate to heavy showers across Barbados, says The Met Office.

Rainfall accumulations of 50mm were recorded across some sections of the island, which resulted in flooding. These conditions are expected to continue overnight, with a second peak of rainfall activity expected after midnight into the early hours of the morning. During this period flooding is likely, with maximum accumulations of up to 30mm forecast over some sections of Barbados.

Residents and visitors, especially in flood-prone areas, should closely monitor the situation overnight. (PR/SAT)
