The Barbados Hockey Federation (BHF) in partnership with the Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) officially broke ground yesterday morning to signify the start of Phase 2 of the development of the Hockey Centre at Wildey.

The centre is receiving a long-overdue facelift with the construction of a million-dollar multipurpose building to accommodate various activities dubbed the “New Pavilion Project”.

Plans were in the pipeline for a while, according to the BHF, and with the assistance of the BOA, the Tourism Development Corporation (TDC) and Pan Am Sports, who are jointly contributing over a million dollars, those dreams are now closer to being a reality.

Speaking at yesterday’s ground-breaking ceremony, president of the BOA, Sandra Osborne reiterated their desire to advance the level of sport in Barbados. (NM)
