The flood watch for Barbados has been extended until 6 a.m. on Saturday.

A flood watch is issued when the conditions are favourable for flooding within the next 36 hours, but that does not mean that flooding will occur.

A surface to mid-level trough continues to affect Barbados, generating intermittent moderate to heavy showers across the island. An increase in shower activity is expected tonight and into tomorrow, with maximum rainfall accumulations of 25 to 750mm (1-3 inches). This activity is likely to trigger flooding across sections of the island.

The flood watch may be updated to a flood warning at short notice, if conditions warrant. (PR/SAT)
