BDF officers honoured for COVID-19 work

Three senior Barbados Defence Force officers yesterday received their Barbados Service Medals for their work in the fight against COVID-19.

During a ceremony in the Officer’s Mess at St Ann’s Fort, the Garrison, St Michael, Captain Donville Dash, Lieutenant (Coast Guard) Anderson Goodridge and Lieutenant Rudolph Morris, who have more than 80 years’ military experience between them with backgrounds in health and environmental health, spoke about their work.

Dash is officer-in-charge of the health services platoon and the Florence Gittens Medical Facility. He said when the pandemic started affecting Barbados, he was instructed by the Chief of Staff to lead the military response.

He admitted there was some fear involved coming into contact with those testing positive for the virus, even though all protocols were being observed. He spoke of sleepless nights waiting on his own precautionary results. (CA)
