The ‘time served’ sentence imposed on self-confessed gunman Damien Troy Vaughn should in no way be seen as any precedent for future gun cases.
Justice Randall Worrell made this clear as he stressed Vaughn’s case was one with exceptional circumstances.
The 31-year-old butler, of Mayers Road, My Lord’s Hill, St Michael, was back for sentencing in the No. 2 Supreme Court after he had pleaded guilty to having a firearm and 45 rounds of ammunition on June 6, 2019.
Vaughn, who had no previous convictions, was represented by attorney Safiya Moore, while Senior Crown Counsel Olivia Davis prosecuted.
The judge said the main aggravating feature of Vaughn’s case was the amount of ammunition he had and that the gun was a Glock. (HLE)
