Cumberbatch was chosen by the selection committee from among seven other regional candidates vying for the prestigious international scholarship. In a congratulatory message, Principal, Orson Alleyne, described the 23-year-old as “outstanding in his pursuit of academic excellence”.

Alleyne also wished him continued success in his specialty area of Mental Health, as he believes Cumberbatch will be “instrumental in the evolution of a Mental Health Policy for our nation”.

Cumberbatch, a mental health advocate, currently holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and intends to pursue a Master of Science in Evidence-Based Social Intervention at the University of Oxford. (BGIS)
