Sir Wes XI take Cup

Ashley Nurse put in a solid all-round performance to earn the Man-Of-The Match award and lead the Sir Wes Hall XI to victory over the Sir Garry Sobers XI by 24 runs to secure the Barbados Cricket Legends Cup in a keenly contested final yesterday at Kensington Oval.

The Sir Wes Hall XI scored 238 for nine off 50 overs and then restricted the Sir Garry Sobers Xl to 214 all out from 46.3 overs.

Nurse lashed 55 in just 35 balls with four sixes and five fours to lift his side from 139 for eight in the 39th over and then picked up the key wicket of Shai Hope on his way to figures of three for 41.

Pacer Akeem Jordan bowled brilliantly to put the Sir Garry Sobers XI under early pressure and earn figures of four for 13 from 8.3 overs. He won the award for bowler of the tournament. (PH)
