Water relief for Berbice Road folk

SOME RESIDENTS in Berbice Road, St James, finally got water in time for Christmas after being without it periodically since Phase 1 of the road rehabilitation project began last month on the West Coast.

Hair stylist Wendy Best-Wharton said the taps were flowing from Monday after not having water for days at a time.

She said the water would be back on about 3 a.m., but this was not ideal as it was not practical to rinse relaxer from someone’s hair using a bucket.

“I don’t have a tank because we’ve never had this problem in the neighbourhood until recently. [Recently] I had to get a friend bring up three buckets of water for me,” she said. (RA)
