Confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) have now risen to 395 – 208 females and 187 males, after 12 more people tested positive for the viral illness. The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 593 tests on Thursday.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness said today that nine visitors – four males and five females – whose ages range from 17 to 59, are all asymptomatic. Five of them, who came into the island between December 21 and 29, 2020, on British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, American Airlines, and Jet Blue, tested positive on their second tests. The other four came into contact with known cases.

Two other persons, Barbadian males, aged 35 and 62, who arrived in Barbados on December 29, 2020, on Jet Blue, tested positive on their second test. They are also asymptomatic. The final person, a 46-year-old male resident, who is symptomatic, came into contact with a known case.

No one left isolation today, so recoveries remain at 319, and those in isolation have increased to 69.

Seven people have died.

Since February 2020, the laboratory has completed 70 257 tests. (BGIS)
