The Spooner’s Hill, St Michael branch of Popular Supermarkets will be closed on Sunday after management learnt a staff member attended the Boxing Day bus crawl.

In a statement, management said that person, who is part of the back room staff, is awaiting the results from the COVID-19 test.

“We value the health and safety of our customers and staff and out of an abundance of caution, we will temporarily close our Spooner’s Hill branch on Sunday, 3rd January 2021 for a thorough sanitisation of the branch and to facilitate testing of the supermarket staff,” the statement said.

Officials say the bus crawl is Barbados’ first super spreader. To date, about 161 people associated with Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds tested positive as a result of that event. (PR/SAT)
