Barbados is now under a flash flood warning.
The Barbados Meteorological Services says this will be in effect from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., but it could be terminated sooner if conditions warrant.
A flash-flood warning is issued when rapid flooding due to heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than six hours) is occurring or is imminent in the warning area. Earlier, only the southern section of Barbados was under a flash flood watch.
A trough system is currently affecting the island, with moderate to heavy showers occurring across sections of Barbados. Maximum rainfall accumulations between 15 to 25mm in moderate to heavy shower activity are likely.
Residents and visitors should expect flooding on roads and some delays in the commute. Â (PR/SAT)
