The Immigration Department has been closed today for sanitising.

Chief Immigration Officer, Wayne Marshall, explained that this was as a result of two customers, who visited the office, having tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

However, he noted that while the risk of exposure to staff of the department was low due to protective measures in place, those officers who made contact with the customers will be tested for the virus, as a precautionary measure.

The office is expected to reopen for business tomorrow, Friday, January 8, and people who had appointments scheduled for Thursday, may keep those at the scheduled times tomorrow.

In addition, the department may be contacted at 832-4102 in the event of an emergency. (BGIS)
