The Barbados Cricket Association announced yesterday that Jonathan Drakes and Akeem Jordan, both 26, have been selected in the Barbados Pride 15-member squad for the West Indies Super50 Cup to be contested next month in Antigua.

It is the first time that they will appear in a Pride uniform, but they are not strangers to the senior level of West Indies domestic cricket competitions.

Omitted from a provisional squad of 22 players named two Mondays ago are Leniko Boucher, Camarie Boyce, Miguel Cummins, Zachary McCaskie, Roshon Primus, Shamar Springer and Tevyn Walcott.

Drakes, a former West Indies Under-19 batsman, and pacer Jordan have played 14 and 16 matches, respectively, for the Combined Campuses & Colleges (CCC) in the same competition over the past two seasons.

Both players were members of the CCC side that beat Leon Johnson’s Guyana Jaguars to win the competition two years ago under the leadership of Carlos Brathwaite. Jordan will be remembered for a destructive spell of 10-4-18-5 that crippled an all-star Trinidad and Tobago Red Force batting line-up in the semi-final at Kensington Oval and propelled CCC into the final.
