At least one accused made sure he was taking no chances when it came the COVID-19 virus.

Moments before he was led away for three weeks’ observation at the Psychiatric Hospital, Omar Oscar Lavine had one request of the District “A” Magistrates’ Court: “Could I get sanitised?”

And the lawman who was preparing to handcuff him obliged, liberally spraying his hands and the handcuffs with alcohol before leading him away yesterday.

Lavine, 37, of Beach Path, Deacons Farm, St Michael, who had a white shirt tied around his lower face as an impromptu mask, was in the court yesterday where he faced four charges.  (HLE)
