Bajans stock up on ground food

As some Barbadians were flocking to supermarkets on Wednesday, others went to the fields to pick their own food.

While some of them were stocking up ahead of the “national pause”, others at Hannays Plantation, Christ Church, said digging sweet potatoes was not unusual for them.

Around 8:30 a.m. labourer H. Rahimatalie was gathering potatoes for the hawkers and householders there.

He said although people from different socio-economic backgrounds visited the plantation during the week, he noticed a slight increase. (TG)
