The Royal Barbados Police Force has announced that Hastings/Worthing Police Station in Christ Church has been temporarily closed with effect from today until further notice.

According to police sources, officers attached to the station tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) this week and others are in quarantine.

The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said personnel at the station were tested for COVID-19 at the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory earlier this week.

Some police officers who spoke with Nation News said they want to know what further protocols will be implemented to safeguard them as they are frequently in contact with members of the public.

The Hastings/Worthing Police Station was also closed and sanitised earlier this month after a female officer there had tested positive for COVID-19.

As a result of the closure of the station today, the public is asked to direct calls for service to 430-7615, 430-7614 or to police emergency number 211 or PBX 4307100. (PR/KG)
