The Police Marine Unit and Barbados Coast Guard are looking for a 61-year-old British visitor missing at sea.

Police at the Holetown Station received a report around 8:30 a.m. today from someone who said he saw a man bathing at the beach located near The Beach House, Sunset Crest, St James.

The visitor, who was staying at a guest house in Sunset Crest, was warned repeatedly by other sea-goers not to venture into the water since it was very rough and unsafe.

He nevertheless continued and at some point was bit by a large wave.
The witness said he did not see him resurface and could not locate his body after looking for him.
Police, coast guard and other personnel have searched both land and sea. (PR/SB)
