Management of Abed’s posted a statement on the company’s Facebook page today after an employee at the Sheraton Mall, Christ Church branch tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

“We are saddened by the mischievous posts that have been circulating on social media and wish to state emphatically that the contents are not accurate.

“Following a positive COVID-19 test result of one of our team members at our Sheraton Store last week, we have been working closely with the Ministry of Health and Wellness in the interest of our staff and customers. All of our actions have subsequently been guided by the ministry’s expert advice, which we have followed to the letter.

“Additionally, please note that our Sheraton store is closed for stocktaking today and tomorrow, ahead of the National Pause,” the statement said.

Government announced a February 3 to 17 “national pause” last week in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19. All businesses will be closed with the exception of essential services. (PR/KG)
