Call for support from legends

Jason Holder said past West Indies cricketers must give more direct support to members of the current squad, rather than constant stinging public criticism.

The world-rated all-rounder and regular Windies Test captain said the problem was so deep that current players are unwilling to connect with past players because of hurtful public comments.

Holder was responding to comments levelled at his on-field tactics by legendary West Indies fast bowler, Sir Andy Roberts.

“My disappointment with people like Andy Roberts – I respect them to what they contribute to the game – but as former players who have done so well, I am sure they have positive contributions to make to West Indies cricket,” Holder said on the Mason & Guest programme on Tuesday on VOB 92.9 FM.

“But why go on these platforms and constantly criticise and degrade the product of West Indies cricket?” Holder asked. (AR)
