Eric Lewis is now overseeing all of the fish markets in Barbados, tasked with improving their operational efficiencies.

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy (MMABE) announced Lewis is the new senior manager of markets, effective March 1, 2021.

According to a release from the Ministry, Lewis “brings a wealth of experience to the post” having worked in the markets for 25 years before taking up the post of economist in the Ministry of Agriculture for six years and later becoming a senior economist.

“I welcome Mr Lewis to the MMABE team as he certainly has the knowledge, experience and capacity to strengthen the work that has to be done in the markets for the improvement of the fisheries experience,” said Minister Kirk Humphrey.

“Eric will help us complete the transformation and modernisation of the fish markets islandwide and I am grateful that he agreed to work with us in this senior capacity.”

Lewis has a degree in Management and Economics, and will be examining the procedures and regulations for all fish markets as well as reviewing the finance models with a view to improving efficiency. (PR/SAT)
