23 new virus cases, 45 people recover

Twenty-three new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) were identified on Wednesday, March 3, out of the 720 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

There were 45 recoveries, bringing the number of active cases to 498.

The 23 new positive cases comprised seven men and 16 women. Six of them had already been at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility undergoing assessment to determine whether they were newly positive, or had COVID-19 in the past and were no longer infectious. The other 17 people are Barbadians.

Barbados has recorded 3 186 confirmed cases – 1 504 females and 1 682 males – and 2 651 people have recovered.

Since February 2020, the public health laboratory has completed 128 291 tests. Thirty-seven people have died from COVID-19.

There were 1 609 people vaccinated on Wednesday, as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19.

To date, a total of 44 859 vaccinations have been administered – 18 939 men and 25 920 women. (BGIS)
