18 new COVID cases, 32 recoveries

Eighteen new positive cases of COVID-19 were recorded on Sunday, March 7, 2021 from the 305 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

There were 32 recoveries, bringing the number of active cases to 419.

The 18 new cases comprised seven men and 11 women. Fifteen of them were already at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility in St Lucy undergoing assessment to determine whether they were newly positive or had COVID-19 in the past and were no longer infectious.

Barbados recorded 3 303 confirmed cases – 1 561 females and 1 742 males – and 2 847 people recovered.  There were 37 deaths from COVID-19.

The public health laboratory has so far completed 130 369 tests.

There were 411 persons vaccinated on Sunday as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19.

To date, 49 317 vaccinations have been administered to 20 729 men and 28 588 women. (BGIS)
