More than 50 000 vaccinated in Barbados

More than 50 000 people in Barbados received the COVID-19 vaccine.

On Wednesday, 380 people were vaccinated under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, bringing the total to 50 263.

Women continue to outnumber men, comprising 29 136, while the latter amount to 21 127 of the total.

The number of COVID-19 recoveries rose to 3 060, as 58 people were released from isolation on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the new COVID-19 cases seem to be trending downward. There were 19 new cases, following 30 on Monday and 20 on Tuesday. The 19 – seven males and 12 females – were identified out of the 746 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Eight of them were already at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility in St Lucy undergoing assessment.

There are now 275 active cases on the island. and confirmed cases stand at 3 372, comprising 1 600 females and 1 772 males.  Thirty-seven people died from the viral illness.

To date, the laboratory has conducted 132 108 tests. (BGIS)
