19 new virus cases, 46 people recover

Barbados has not recorded any deaths from coronavirus (COVID-19) for nine consecutive days. The last reported death was on March 2, and the number of fatalities from the viral illness has remained at 37.

There were 19 new positive cases identified on Thursday, March 11, while 46 people recovered from the virus and were discharged from isolation. The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 496 tests yesterday. The number of active cases is 248.

The 19 new cases comprise nine women and ten men. Nine of them were already at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility undergoing assessment.

Since March 2020, there have been 3 391 confirmed cases – 1 609 females and 1 782 males – and 3 106 people have recovered.  The public health laboratory has so far completed 132 604 tests.

There were 345 people vaccinated on Thursday, as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19.

To date, 50 703 vaccinations have been administered – 21 323 men and 29 380 women. (BGIS)
