New COVID cases continue to fall

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 457 tests on Friday, March 12, 2021 of which 13 were positive.

There were also 41 people who recovered from the virus, reducing the number of active cases on the island to 220 from 248.

The 13 new cases comprise six women and seven men. Seven of them were already at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility in St Lucy undergoing assessment.

The country recorded 3 404 confirmed cases – 1 615 females and 1 789 males – and 3 147 people recovered since the first case was identified in March last year.  There were 37 COVID-19 deaths.

The public health laboratory has so far completed 133 061 tests.

As part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, 221 people were vaccinated on Friday.

To date, 50 980 vaccinations were administered – 21 448 men and 29 532 women. (BGIS)
