Andrew Baker arrived in Barbados a short while ago after rowing from Portugal.

Baker arrived at Port St Charles in St Peter around noon to an emotional greeting from girlfriend Lucy Partington and other well-wishers.

The 41-year-old lawyer from The Isle Of Man said the journey took 98 days and was filled with high and low moments.

Baker said he was always fascinated about rowing travel and, after watching a number of documentaries, he wanted to give it a try.

He survived on packs of food while travelling across the Atlantic Ocean and said that not once did he feel lonely or wanted to turn back. (SB)
