President of the Barbados Cricket Association, Conde Riley, says he expects Barbados Pride and World No.1 Test all-rounder Jason Holder to rebound strongly from being sacked from the position of full-time West Indies Test captain.

Riley was speaking on Thursday at Kensington Oval during a media conference to formally announce the candidacy of BCA vice-president Calvin Hope for a similar post at Cricket West Indies (CWI).

The change from Holder to his childhood friend, Wanderers clubmate and Barbados Pride teammate, Kraigg Brathwaite has been topical over the past week.

“I am not necessarily happy,” Riley, a CWI director, said about the change of captain. “One thing I would say about the two of them [Holder and Brathwaite], they have a lot of respect for each other.

“They have been playing together for Barbados from youth days. They have a very good relationship, so I don’t think it makes much of a difference.” (AR)
