Port authorities are trying to find out what caused a tractor to come tumbling down on two containers during the wee hours of today.

No one was injured but the vehicle ended up smashed to pieces.

Chief executive officer of the Barbados Port Inc. David Jean-Marie said the accident was under investigation and he could not offer further comment.

However, sources said the tractor was being transported from a ship to land using a flat rack. As it was passing over two containers, something connected to the flat rack snapped, causing the tractor to crash.

Before it hit the ground the tractor and the flat rack dented the two containers.

Here, the flat rack still dangling from the crane above the containers while the tractor is on the ground.  (AC)
