Barbados suffered a 1-0 defeat against Panama tonight in their opening game of the Concacaf FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Playing at the Estadio Felix Sanchez Stadium in The Dominican Republic, The Bajan Tridents held a solid defensive line and were fortunate not to concede up until the 82nd minute as Panama wasted several first half chances.

Second half substitute Jair Catuy broke the deadlock to give Panama the victory after heading home a cross from Cesar Yanis.

It was a lean night on the offensive end for Barbados, with very few shots on goal.

Barbados will play Anguilla on March 30. (AGB)
