New COVID cases continue to fluctuate

With the first phase of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19 coming to an end, no vaccinations were done on Saturday.

To date, 63 689 vaccinations were administered, 26 325 to men and 37 364 to women.

The second phase, which will see people receiving their second dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, will start from Saturday, April 17.

Meanwhile, 20 people tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday from the 358 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Seven men and 13 women made up the new cases.

Additionally, 14 people recovered from the viral illness and were discharged.  There are currently 160 people in isolation.

The number of confirmed cases recorded since March 2020 is 3 629 – 1 745 females and 1 884 males – and 3 436 people recovered from the virus. Forty-one people died from COVID-19.

Since February last year, 139 775 tests were carried out by the public health laboratory. (BGIS)
