70-year-old woman dies at Harrison Point

A 70-year-old St Lucian woman with an underlying condition passed away at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility on Monday, March 29 after spending 21 days in isolation, 16 of them on a ventilator.

Her death brings to 42 the number of people who succumbed to COVID-19.

Additionally, there were eight new positive cases of COVID-19 – four men and four women – recorded on Monday from among the 490 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Thirteen people recovered and were discharged from isolation. There are now 152 persons in isolation.

The island recorded 3 642 cases – 1 751 females and 1 891 males – and 3 457 people recovered since the advent of the first COVID-19 case in March 2020.

So far, the public health laboratory has conducted 140 505 tests.

Since the official announcement of the end of the first phase of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, a small number of vaccinations were administered to “shut-ins” by a mobile team.

As a result, the total vaccinations done to date is 63 711, comprising 26 330 men and 37 381 women. (BGIS)
