Windies bowled out for 354 in second Test

NORTH SOUND – West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite duly completed his ninth Test hundred and shared a century, eighth wicket stand with Rahkeem Cornwall before the Caribbean side were bowled out a little before lunch in the second Test against Sri Lanka in Antigua.

Brathwaite ended with the top score of 126 before he was the last wicket to fall and Cornwall made a career-best 73, and the Windies were dismissed for 354 in their first innings on the second day of the match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

Brathwaite turned the second delivery of the day from pacer Suranga Lakmal to fine leg for a single to reach his milestone from 241 balls, after West Indies resumed from their overnight total of 287 for seven.

Cornwall was a reliable partner for him through the first hour and he reached his 50 from 64 balls, when he cracked Lakmal through backward point for his eighth four.

Cornwall stayed almost an hour-and-a-quarter and shared 103 with Brathwaite before he was caught at mid-on off Lakmal.

Kemar Roach came to the crease and stayed long enough with Brathwaite to get the Windies past 350 before he was caught behind off Dushmanth Chameera for nine, and the same bowler brought the innings to a close, when Brathwaite bowled off the inside edge, trying to force a delivery through the off-side.

Lakmal was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers with four for 94 from 23 overs and Chameera supported with three for 69 from 21.1 overs.
