‘Pretender’ scolded for shocking video

A High Court has soundly chastised a convicted woman for being in a viral WhatsApp video mocking the complainant in her case prior to being sentenced yesterday.

In fact, Justice Carlisle Greaves said Sharaine Melissa Gollop’s behaviour in the video showed she had no remorse for her actions in the 2012 incident that left the complainant with a collapsed lung and 12 stab wounds.

He also said it showed the difference between friends and “frienemies” – those who egg on people to do wrong instead of hauling them back.

“Sometimes the one you see as your friend is really not your friend,” Justice Greaves declared. “A good friend is one who can tell you you’re wrong when you’re wrong. A good friend is one who pulls you back even at their own risk.
