Members of the public are reminded that they should remain indoors between the hours of 5 a.m. and midnight on the upcoming holidays and the next three Sundays, as specified in the Emergency Management (COVID-19) (Curfew) (No.9), Directive, 2021.
Therefore, a person may leave his/her residence tomorrow, Wednesday, April 28; Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2, 9 and 16, between 5 a.m. and midnight, if he/she is: the owner, operator or employee of a business or an establishment set out in paragraph 6 or 7; transacting business with a business or an establishment set out in paragraph 6 or 7.
People are also permitted to leave their homes if they are attending a place of religious worship as permitted by paragraph 12; if directly involved in the COVID-19 vaccination exercise either as a service provider or to receive a vaccine; the national clean-up programme organised by the Ministry of Housing and Lands, and in the cleaning of private or commercial premises.
Additionally, residents may go to the beach/park or exercise outdoors, as stated in paragraph 13, during the hours of 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. Members of an essential service or persons with an emergency are also allowed to leave their residence.
The public is further reminded that in paragraph 6 (a) to (n), the following non-essential services will be in operation on April 28 and May 1, 2, 9, and 16: attractions and heritage sites, such as Andromeda Botanic Gardens, the Animal Flower Cave, Harrison’s Cave and St Nicholas Abbey; bakeries for the baking of bread; bread depots and bread vans for the sale of bread; cleaning services that clean for essential services and businesses to which paragraph 6 applies; coconut vendors on the hard shoulder of the ABC Highway, in addition to other locations, and farms and fishing operations, but vending is prohibited.
Also permitted to operate are: fuel manufacturers, fuel storage facilities and distributors for the entire day; gasoline stations for the sale of products relating to motor vehicles and petroleum products, including liquefied petroleum gas (bottled gas), and for the sale of top-ups for mobile telephones; pharmacies for the sale of pharmaceuticals and the filling of prescriptions; hardware stores, and hotels, villas and other rental accommodation for the entire day, including restaurants.
Pharmaceutical manufacturers; manufacturers of beverages and dairy products; food processors and food distributors, and pleasure craft and private boat charters are allowed to operate. However, these craft and boat charters must do so in accordance with paragraph 5 (3) (c), which states that operators “shall carry no more than 50 per cent of their authorised number of passengers”.
Sugar factories are allowed to open for the entire day. Tyre shops, wrecker services and emergency personnel for vehicle response are allowed to operate, as needed.
Food service establishments shall be permitted to open from Monday to Sunday and shall comply with the protocols published by the Chief Medical Officer. (BGIS)
