The Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) will be forced to pay a bigger bill to send athletes to two major track and field events this year.

With the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Junior Pan American Games both slated for the summer, the BOA has budgeted for an estimated BDS$800 000 to fund the trips.

In 2019, then secretary general Cameron Burke, who is now the vice-president, said it would cost about BDS$1 million to get Barbadian qualifiers to the Games.

However, the exact figure will be determined based on how many athletes qualify, especially for the Olympics, set for July 23 to August 8 in Japan. The Junior Pan Am Games are scheduled for Cali, Colombia, September 9-19. (AGB)
